Ultimate LAN 2013 - UPDATED 4/18/2013

Date:
Friday, April 26, 2013 - 18:00 to Saturday, April 27, 2013 - 12:00
Location:
Indiana Tech, Andorfer Commons Building, Upstairs in the Conference Center. Street Address: 1600 E. Washington Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46803
Description:

Note: The discussion thread for the planning of the Ultimate LAN can be found here , so make sure to post so that your two cents can be included!

It is that time of the year, gents!
As always, the Ultimate LAN will be held upstairs in the Conference Rooms, in the Andorfer Commons Building at Indiana Tech. The address to Indiana Tech is 1600 E. Washington Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46803.
Here are some basic rules-of-thumb for the LAN. The below guidelines and information are subject to change as the event draws near, but the information provided below will be generally accurate.

A BIG thank you to our confirmed sponsors: IN-WIN, CPU, Razer USA, Sapphire Tech and Bawls!

What You Need to Know:

Games and Tournaments (updated 4/18/13!)
We will be having the following tournaments:

  • Supreme Commander 2 (@7 pm)
  • League of Legends (@11 pm)
  • Counter Strike: Global Offensive (@4am)
  • MineCraft Build Competition (@6:30 until wee hours of morning)

You can sign-up for tournaments when you arrive, but you can also register early on this page!

We will also be suggesting games to play throughout the evening. Some of our featured games include:

  • Team Fortress 2 (available free on Steam)
  • Left for Dead 2
  • Tribes: Ascend (Also free on Steam)
  • Age of Empires II (or other RTS)
  • Killing Floor
  • Call of Duty 4
  • Minecraft (on a free-play server separate from the competition.)

We HIGHLY SUGGEST signing up for and downloading Steam, which is available for free at http://www.steampowered.com. Most, if not all, the games we will be playing and featuring will be available through the Steam platform (and games you have already purchased that are available on Steam can often be linked/activated on your Steam account.)

LAN Basics.

  • First of all, there is an entrance fee of $5 for any non-ITGS member who is an Indiana Tech student or alumni and a $10 fee for everyone else who wishes to come. This will get you into the LAN, give you a door prize ticket and one ticket for the general raffle, and pizza when it is provided.
  • As always, you'll need to sign a waiver/hold harmless agreement before being allowed into the LAN. I have attached a copy of our basic rules that we give out at every LAN party for reference, and I'll get the waivers up here soon as well and update this event when that has been done.
  • We have room for about 100 attendees, so it's first-come, first-serve.
  • We allow each desktop user to have two power outlets: one for a single monitor, and one for the machine. Laptop users get one power outlet for their laptop. With the amount of people that come to this LAN, any more than that will make it very likely to trip some breakers and have a lot of power issues, so you must comply to this rule.
  • We DO NOT allow attendees to bring their own servers (as in additional physical boxes) to the LAN. We also DO NOT allow attendees to bring in gaming consoles and televisions. While we might have these things already set up by us for your enjoyment, you are not supposed to bring in auxiliary ones with no prior notification when you arrive.
  • Pizza will be served on Friday evening.
  • Beverages will be available for purchase throughout the course of the LAN, including espresso.

Raffles:

  • Each attendee will get exactly one door prize ticket upon entrance, and one ticket for the general raffle.
  • More general raffle tickets can be purchased at any point during the LAN. The price for this year is not yet set, but the price will be somewhere in between $1 - $5 each.
  • If there is multiple of the same item in the raffle (for example, two of the same keyboard) they will probably share a raffle bucket, but each individual is only entitled to win one. If you get drawn a second time for the same item, that drawing will be discarded and the prize will go to the next person who has not won that item yet.

Activities and Contests:

  • There will be a variety of activities and contests that occur during the LAN party, most with prizes involved. The list has yet to be finalized, but some contests we traditionally have include a trivia competition, a Musical Chairs contest, and a Cosplay contest. More details and rules will be provided as things are finalized.
  • Musical Chairs: Every year, we have a musical chairs tournament! We have one round, and play by the standard rules you know and love from childhood. THE LAST MAN STANDING (well, sitting) GETS THE VICTORY!
  • Cosplay Contest: Dress up as whomever or whatever you want! (As long as it's not something that would get you arrested. That would put a damper on the party.) Winner is determined by crowd.
  • Trivia Contest: Also held every year. The rules need to be finalized on this one, but typically we have a set of smaller prizes and we give a prize to every correct answer. This may be revised and improved upon, but that'll be updated in the future.

More information will be available as the time draws near!

Point of Information on Ultimate LAN

Discussion of the Ultimate LAN will begin after Fort LAN is finished this weekend, so we aren't completely eclipsed by its awesomeness. We'll talk about what Tournaments we want to host, length, what kind of activities we'll be having during, and the sponsorships we'll be looking forward to having.
Just as a reminder, the LAN will begin on Friday, April 26th and run through the 27th in the Andorfer Commons Conference Center at the Indiana Institute of Technology: 1600 E. Washington Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46803. Thanks guys!
EDIT: Current confirmed sponsorships include: Fractal Design, In-Win, Razer USA, CPU Magazine, Bawls, Sapphire Tech, and Kingston.

ITGS Techno Rave 2013

Date:
Saturday, March 9, 2013 - 19:00 to 23:00
Location:
Andorfer Commons - Conference Rooms
Description:

This will be our Fourth-Annual ITGS Techno Rave!

As is tradition, this is a members-only event, however members are free to bring guests. In fact, they are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to bring guests.
BRING GUESTS.
In order to cover our butts, however, please send your guest list to the current Tournament Coordinator, AJ Karnitis: AJKarnitis01@indianatech.net
Please get it to him by the day before the Rave (Fri, March 8th), and keep in mind that any attendee that is not a member of ITGS or on the Guest List is liable to be kicked out.

There will be much techno to be had, including (of course!) video game remixes, many glowsticks and other assorted glow-accessories for your enjoyment. Keeping with ITGS tradition, we will also include games outside the dance floor for everyone to enjoy, and also A PINATA.
Attendees are encouraged to dress up in whatever get-up they desire (such as making t-shirts or, my personal favorite, goggles) or just to wear whatever is comfortable.

Song, event and game suggestions can be discussed on this thread:
http://www.iitgamers.com/node/225

Disclaimers: Illegal substances and alcohol are not allowed. Member or no, remember that officers hold the right to kick out any attendee for ANY REASON (however, this hasn't happened before, so don't worry too much about that.) Please don't break things.
Also, let's try to NOT molest the alien this year (haha, jokes!)

PS. INVITE PEOPLE
PS PS: SERIOUSLY

State of the Union

Hey guys.
So, as you probably know by now, we have postponed the Techno Rave to a later date of March 9th. Save the date! We'll also spam the crap out of it so you remember. :D
Otherwise we have been playing with the event schedule a bit. We have decided not to do the proposed Feb. 15th LAN, since FortLAN (http://www.fortlan.org) will actually be in the conference center holding a large LAN. (Definitely check it out--some of our best alumni and a fantastic friend to the ITGS are running the show!)
We have also decided to cancel the March 15th LAN party, since it would be right in-between two pretty large LANs (being FortLAN in February and the Ultimate LAN in April). And we also canceled the RockBand tournament slated for Feb. 8th, but we may choose to reschedule later.
